Passeio Alegre Garden is situated in the parish of Foz do Douro, in the city of Porto. This place, like many others, is one of the landmarks which characterizes the city, being classified as a property of public interest.
Passeio Alegre Garden was built byt the end of the 19th century by the architect Émile David, who participated in its dazzling composition.
This tour consists of an palm tree promenade, accompanied by architectural elements. It has several monuments and classified heritage, such as the two "Obelisks of Nasoni", the "House of Visconde de Oliveira", the "House of Oliveira Maya", the "Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Lapa", the "Church of São João Batista ", the "Passeio Alegre Fountain", the "São Miguel-O-Anjo Lighthouse", the "Kiosk in the Jardim do Passeio Alegre". The kiosk, known as “Suisso” Chalet, a national monument that once was a meeting place for artists, writers and intellectuals.

In this place you can find the public toilets decorated with Art Nouveau tiles and English crockery, built in 1910. Later, a mini-golf field was built, where several golf championships are organized.
One of the main sights of the city of Porto, where the tram is the most used transport to get there by the tourists, who enjoy the good location that surrounds the Park and Garden of Passeio Alegre. This place is characterized by its romantic style and variety of plant species. Centennial trees stand out in this garden, because they offer shade and tranquility to those who pass by. The garden is marked with evidence by a promenade of Canaries Palm Trees, also classified as public interest. The Norfolk Pine Trees, of an Norfolk Araucaria species, with more than 120 years. The metrosideros excelsa, a plant known by the name of “fire tree”, originally from New Zealand.

Jardim do Passeio Alegre is a point of reference, specially in the summer season, for a relaxing Sunday full of music. It is in this space that the "Porto Sunday Sessions" festival takes place, co-organized by the City Hall of Porto, which had its 6th edition last year, and was present in two more gardens of the city.
