7 Curiosities about Pigeons

Either you can love them or you can hate them, but pigeons will always be somewhere in the city
           If we want to be true to ourselves the reality is that it is impossible to walk around Porto and not see Columba Livia, but wait... if you are asking what are we talking about then you will recognize this species for their usual name "pigeon". 1-Pigeons were in fact very important to wars
           Even being hard to believe, because they are associated with peace, pigeons were used as a way of communication in war, so that the neemies couldn't intercept the messages.

2-Falcon vision, they see everything
             This species have a great vision, they see the worl like a colouful kaleidoscope, they can even see ultraviolet lights, a thing that not even humans can.

3-You might not remember them, but they will remember you
           They develop the ability to recognize humans, mainly the one that don't  treat them right. So think well before messing up with a pigeon.

4-Why pigeons don't get an eletric shock?
           It is common to see pegiones flying and land on eletric cables, but why anything happens to them? Simply because their feet aren't far enough from each other to generate potential difference, but in case of instability and they need to support themselves in a different way, for examples with their wings, they would get electrocuted.

5-The adorable Dodo was just a giant pigeon
           Scientis that suty genetic say that pigeons are the closest living family of the already extinct bird called Dodo.

6-They are everywhere humans are...
           Nowadays, it is estimated to exist 260 billion pigeons that live, figuratively, in every city of the world. living and interacting with humans probably more than any other animal species in the planet.

7-They can fly at more than 160 km/h
           Although they don't show this often, some pigeons can fly incredibly fast and for long distances, in a short amount of time they can reach over 160 km/h.
