The historical Garden of Serralves

The Serralves Park was designed in 1932 by Jacques Gréber, a French architect and urban planner who developed intense professional activity in the United States and Canada, creating French-styled gardens for millionaires. This park is located in the heart of Porto and has been classified as a National Monument since 2012, distinguished by the fact that it is a historic garden that combines the classic to the modern.
In addition to this ranking, it is also among the 250 most outstanding gardens in the world, integrating the list of gardens published in the book 'The Gardener's Garden', by the Phaidon publishing house.

This park extends, from the House of Serralves, for another 18 hectares that include gardens, woods, a rose garden and a romantic lake which makes it a must-visit place.
There are several centers of interest in the Park, like the Formal Garden, which is one of the most outstanding examples of landscape architecture of the 20th century, a rose garden (currently in the process of being restored), the Garden of the Sun Clock and the Garden of Camellias (where you can buy herbs and other plants, as well as very wooded areas). This place contains more than 60 species of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, as well as a vast number of invertebrate species.

At the Serralves Foundation we can find in one place the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Park and the Art Deco House, as well as leisure spaces, shops and restaurants.
