“If you have a garden we have a tree for you” this is the name of the reforestation campaign of Porto, created under the project “FUTURE – 100 thousand trees project” (from the portuguese “FUTURO – Projeto das 100 mil árvores”), which is already on its 3rd edition.

According to the Town Hall’s website, “there are many and undeniable evidences of its (the trees) contributions for the visible upgrade on life quality for everyone, throughout the oxygen production, the urban heat mitigation, the decrease of polluant’s levels, among many others.”

This year’s purpose is to reach 3.150 plantations, and get to ten thousand trees on the metropolitan area of Porto until 2020.

The applications for this year’s edition are already opened and you can choose between trees, shrubs and hedges, with a limit of 10 trees per person. To participate you only need to have 18 years old or more, live in Porto’s county and have a place where the plant can be set to grow up without adding any problems. If you have doubts on which species you should choose, you can take a look at the catalog published on the project’s website.
